Ontario safety inspection questions

How much does an Ontario safety inspection cost?

Our Ontario safety inspection cost is $249 plus tax for most cars and light trucks. That covers the full vehicle safety check and the certificate itself when the car passes.

Does the price include repairs?

No. The inspection fee covers the car safety check Ontario requires. If something fails, we quote the repair first and you decide — there's no obligation to have the work done here.

How long does a vehicle inspection in Ontario take?

Plan on about an hour for the Ontario vehicle safety check itself. Call ahead and we'll book you a bay so the car isn't sitting.

How long is the certificate valid?

An Ontario safety certificate is valid for 36 days from the inspection date, so time it close to when you're registering the vehicle.

What if the car fails?

You get the list of what failed and what it costs to fix. Once the repairs are done, we re-check the failed items and issue the car safety certificate Ontario needs for the transfer.
